Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd Test: Live Score

West Indies Over: 60 II Score: 172/2 (Darren Bravo: 55*, Samuels: 72*)

Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels have both scored half centuries and are playing the Bangladesh bowlers around with ease. Bangladesh are slowly but surely losing the plot here. Singles are coming all too easily for the batsmen hence no pressure is being built on them.

West Indies Over: 51 II Score: 146/2 (Darren Bravo: 41*, Samuels: 62*)

Tea has been called for and West Indies are in a comfortable position as they go into tea. They recovered well after the loss of Gayle and Powell to reach 146/2. This session belonged to the West Indies. They will look to build on this partnership even further after tea and achieve a big first innings lead over the hosts.

West Indies Over: 45 II Score: 122/2 (Darren Bravo: 37*, Samuels: 43*)

West Indies are going along very comfortably. A big partnership looks to be in store for the Windies.

West Indies Over: 40 II Score: 113/2 (Darren Bravo: 32*, Samuels: 39*)

West Indies are cruising alomg at the moment. Bangladesh bowlers are looking very ordinary.

West Indies Over: 35 II Score: 96/2 (Darren Bravo: 28*, Samuels: 26*)

West Indies are consolidating well after a few quick wickets in the first session. Bravo and Samuels are looking very comfortable in the middle now and look set for a huge partnership. Bangladesh need to do something different.

West Indies Over: 30 II Score: 80/2 (Darren Bravo: 21*, Samuels: 20*)

West Indies are building up a good partnership here. Samuels is looking uncomfortable against the angle created by the left handed Shakib.
West Indies Over: 25 II Score: 71/2 (Darren Bravo: 17*, Samuels: 15*)

West Indies have begun the post lunch session very cautiously. They are not looking to play too many shots. Abul Hasan and Shakib bowling in tandem.

LUNCH REPORT

At Lunch West indies were 62 for the loss of 2 wickets. Bangladesh were folded out early in the 2nd day for a score of 387 all out. West Indies started out very positively with the bat, scoring runs at a very brisk pace. The hosts however pulled it back with the wickets of Powell and Gayle. Rubel Hossain and Sohag Gazi picked up a wicket each. Bangladesh would be a satisfied unit as they go into lunch and will be looking to continue their good performance in the post lunch session as well.

West Indies Over: 20 II Score: 59/2 (Darren Bravo: 10*, Samuels: 10*)

Bangladesh are putting a lot of pressure on the West Indies batsmen. The spinners are inviting them to go over the top and the Windies are hitting a few shots in the air.

West Indies Over: 15 II Score: 43/2 (Darren Bravo: 4*, Samuels: 0*)

Bangladesh have got the big wicket of Gayle. Marlon Samuels replaces him in the crease. Runs are not coming easily for the Windies.

CH Gayle c Mushfiqur Rahim b Sohag Gazi 25 (47b 3x4 0x6)

West Indies Over: 10 II Score: 37/1 (Gayle: 23*, Darren Bravo: 0*)

Bangladesh have picked up a wicket. Powell pulls a short one from Rubel Hossain straight to the man at deep square leg. Darren Bravo replaces Powell in the middle. Bangladesh have put a hold on the scoring rate and will be looking to keep up the pressure.

KOA Powell c Shakib Al Hasan b Rubel Hossain 13 (22b 2x4 0x6)

West Indies Over: 5 II Score: 28/0 (Gayle: 21*, Powell: 6*)

Chris Gayle and Kieran Powell will open the batting for the West Indies and Sohag Gazi will bowl the first over for the hosts.

The Windies openers are looking good and scoring at a good rate. The Hosts have not put any kind of pressure on the batsmen. They are getting runs at will and at a good rate.
BANGLADESH Over: 91.1 II Score: 387/10

Abul Hasan scored 113 runs with 14 boundaries and 4 sixes to take Bangladesh to a respectable 387 all out. Bangladesh will be satisfied with their performance in the first innings although the lower order provided no resistance at all. Now it is time for the bowlers to put ion a good show and restrict the Windies batsmen from taking a huge first innings lead.

Dhaka: Bowler Abul Hasan hit an unbeaten century on his debut to propel Bangladesh to 365-8 at stumps on Wednesday on the first day of the second test against West Indies.

Bangladesh will be looking to add some more runs to their score so they can put pressure on the Windies batsmen when they come out to bat some time in the second day.

Sprint legend Usain Bolt may play cricket after Rio Games

London: Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt, who has already conquered the racing track with six Olympic gold medals, may switch to cricket or football after the 2016 Games in Rio de Janerio.

The 26-year-old from Jamaica had held talks with Australian spin legend Shane Warne`s Melbourne Stars in October but his agent Ricky Simms said that he won`t be available for this year`s Big Bash Twenty20 League.

"Usain is currently an athlete focused on his preparations for the 2013 World Championships in Moscow," Simms said.

"He may try his hand at cricket or football when he retires from running but that would be after 2016."

Bolt, who grew up in cricket-mad Jamaica and is the defending champion in 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events at the London 2012 Olympics, had earlier showed interest in participating in the Australian tournament.

Warne then tried his hand to bring Bolt in the team and had launched a Twitter campaign.

On Friday, former Australia wicketkeeper Ian Healy once again brought up the issue when he tweeted that a deal between Bolt and the Stars to play in the competition - which runs from 7 December to 9 January - was "hours away".

However, Simms dismissed the claim, saying: "I met with the Melbourne Stars in October and told them Usain is not available to play cricket this year."

In the past, Bolt has appeared in charity cricket matches and even managed to famously clean bowled then West Indies captain Chris Gayle in 2009.

Bolt, who considers football to be his first love, was also the special guest of Manchester United at the 2011 Champions League final in London.

Last October, the Jamaican also expressed his desire to play football professionally in the future.

"I always wanted to try to play soccer," he said in October. "Maybe at the end of my career. It would be something that I would love to try," he had said.

Umesh Yadav doubtful for 2nd Test, Dinda called up as cover

Mumbai: Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav was on Wednesday rendered doubtful for the second cricket Test against England, starting Friday, due to a lower back problem.

Yadav, who picked up four wickets in the first match in Ahemedabad, underwent a scan today and did not turn up for the practice session.

Bengal paceman Ashok Dinda has been called as a cover for Yadav. Incidentally, Dinda was called up as cover for Ishant Sharma as well.

Sharma was eventually ruled out of the first Test due to viral fever and Dinda returned back for Ranji duty after being released by the team management on the first day of the Ahmedabad Test.

India are leading the four-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test by nine wickets.

The second Test will be played at Wankhede Stadium here.

Gavaskar conferred with C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award

Mumbai: Former India captain and legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar was on Wednesday conferred with BCCI`s prestigious Col C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award while Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli were also awarded for their achievements in international arena during past season.

Tendulkar was feted for his incredible achiement of scoring 100 international hundreds in Tests and ODIs combined.

Kohli won the `Polly Umrigar Award` for the being the best Indian cricketer of the 2011-12 season in international cricket.

With it, Kohli had his name added to other stars who have received this honour previously including Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. He was presented with a glittering trophy and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.

VVS Laxman, who retired before the start of the home rubber against New Zealand in August was also felicitated for his stupendous achievement in international cricket for past decade and half.

The prolific batsman was also adjudged as ICC`s `ODI Cricketer of the Year` earlier.

"I am happy to receive the award in front of so many cricketers whom I have watched and got inspired by. I hope I can continue in the same way this season," said the Delhi batsman after receiving his award.

Earlier, after receiving his award, Tendulkar thanked Gavaskar and called him his inspiration for taking up the game.

"We grew up watching you. Thanks for inspiring me to play cricket. All I wanted to do was to follow your footsteps," said Tendulkar addressing Gavaskar sitting in front.

"I was 12 or so and was disappointed as I did not get the `Best Junior Cricketer` award. I got a letter from Mr Gavaskar saying if you go through that list there is one person who did not get that award and he (Gavaskar) had not done badly in Tests," said Tendulkar.

He also thanked the BCCI for always standing by him, whether he was performing or not performing or when he was injured.

"BCCI has always stood by me. Whether I did well or not or when I was injured, BCCI has always supported me. I also thank John Wright (former India coach). He told me in 2002-03, when we were flying from Johannesburg to Durban that I should complete 100 international hundreds. I asked him, "What are you drinking? Now I am standing in front of you after scoring century of centuries. Thank you John Wright."

Laxman got a bit emotional and said that it has been three months since he called curtains to his career and it has given him a chance to look back on his 16-year old interntional career.

"As a youngster, I wanted to play for India. I realised my dream. Lots of people supported me in fulfilling it, my uncle, the Hyderabad Cricket Association for supporting me in my formative years, my wife Shailaja and my teammates in the Indian team," said Laxman.

Gavaskar described the award as "the biggest in Indian cricket" and that he was honoured to receive it (from Board President N Srinivasan).

"I dedicate this award to the Indian cricket fans without whose support, encouragement and the occasional criticism which is a wake-up call, this would not have been possible," he said.

"Just to see the list of previous recipients of this award and to be in that list is a great honour. It feels humbling to be in that list," he said.

"I have to thank all my friends who had played tennis ball cricket, club cricket, the umpires, the local associations for helping us play so many tournaments. The BCCI president N Srinivasan and his other colleagues, the media for highlighting my scores and bringing it to the attention of the selectors and the public," said Gavaskar.

Gavaskar also recalled the incident he had mentioned in his uatobiography `Sunny Days` about how he wanted to wear a India pullover that was possessed by his maternal uncle Madhav Mantri and was told that "one needs to earn the right to wear the India pullover."
Seven former and late Test cricketers were honoured posthumously when they were conferred with the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award worth Rs 15 lakh and a Trophy each.

BCCI president N Srinivasan explained the rationale and said it was felt that these cricketers would have got the award for their on-field achievements had they been alive in due course.

The seven late cricketers were: Vijay Merchant, Vinoo Mankad, Dattu Phadkar, Ghulam Ahmad, Vijay Manjrekar, M L Jaisimha and Dilip Sardesai.
