23-year-old graphics and web designer Sahil Bhagat has founded what is being called "India's first clutter-free, personal social network" - Vebbler.com. The site claims to offer unique features to differentiate it, like Clubs, Wavetags, Search, Followers and Photo Galleries. Vebbler was launched in beta on July 23, and rolled out its first invites on July 28. According to the company, the social networking platform has received a good response within India as well as globally.

Clubs, one of Vebbler’s USPs, allow the user to add friends in different groups like family, friends, workmates and acquaintances. It has a 'Followers' feature that allows users to follow people they find interesting. According to the company, users can upload bigger profile photos in high-resolution, which is ideal for photographers as well as photography enthusiasts. It also has privacy settings, so users can choose with whom they want to share photographs, etc.

Vebbler's 'Wavetags' feature allows you to follow, build and gauge the popularity of a conversation on the Wave-O-Meter. The platform allows users to search photos, waves and conversations about anything that interest them.

Commenting on the launch of Vebbler, Mr. Sahil Bhagat, founder - Vebbler.com, said:

“Today, our parents, teachers, colleagues and even bosses are present on social media. There is a need for an evolved method of connecting, which could easily help a user to layer their friends and other relationships, such as workmates and family. Vebbler is that platform which allows people to connect with their close ones without one relationship spilling into another... Within days of launching, Vebbler is garnering overwhelming response, even outside India from countries like USA, United Kingdom, UAE, Australia, Sri Lanka and even places like Norway, Philippines and Qatar."

Is acquiring Tumblr the best way to solve Yahoo's troubles?

Late last month the board of director at Yahoo Inc. approved a $1.1 billion bid in their attempt to acquire New York based blogging site Tumblr. The whole web world including Twitter(and not to mention hipster) went into a tizzy.Thoughts and opinions oscillated from kudos to anti-establishment fears. There were even a few stray voices wondering what would happens to all the porn blogs once Yahoo! take over. However, most of the concern were coming from Yahoo!'s track record with it acquisitions.Would they have another Flikr in their other hands? Would Yahoo!  screw it all up? In fact Marisa Mayer went so far as to state on record that she would not."We promise not to screw it upTumblr is incredibly specail and has a great think going. We will operate Tumblr independently.David Karp

will remain CEO.The product roadmap, their team, their wit and irreverence will all remain the same as will their mission to empower creators to make their     best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve.Yahoo! will help Tumblr get even better, faster."

So,Why did Yahoo! buy Tumblr?
Ostensibly the takeover is a bid to increase Yahoo!'s social quotient. As much as Tumblr is a blogging platform it's also a social network with its own culture and following.Yahoo! doesn't have a "cool " enough property in it's fold yet. This very much in line with Yahoo!'s plan to show case Saturday Night live Clips exclusively beginning September.

Ok, but what's the reason, seriously?
Going by a report on Buzzfeed (yes you read that right people), corporate image building has littile to do with Yahoo!'s bid to buy Tumblr. And neither is Tumblr's impressive active user base. The real reason is the demography that Tumblr has a strong hold over:Tumblr's young demographic doesn't just ignore Yahoo!-they don't know what it is.When Yahoo! was founded,Tumblr's most imortant demographic wasn't born", syas the peice on buzzfeed.Who are these peiople? The majority of Tumbl' user base lies in the 18 to 24 segment.
Is the Tumblr guy a billionaire now?
Oddly enough, he isn't.Tumblr founder David karp, a high school dropout started tinkering with the idea of blogging site from his mom's apartment back in 2007.Since then he was remained a somewhat deliberate teen-adult figure possibly in a bid to associate more with the audience he caters to.The billion dollar deal how ever is going to leave him with just under $200 million. Not a small amount, but enough to get him on one of those coveted world's richest people list.
