LG takes out 2.2mm thick Full HD LCD ultra slim panel for Smartphones.
LG Display has introduced an ultra-slim full HD panel for smartphones. Touted as the 'world's slimmest full HD panel' for mobile devices, the display measures 5.2-inch diagonally, and is 2.2mm in thickness with a 2.3mm bezel.

The panel boasts of resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, consisting of Red, Green, Blue (RGB) sub-pixels. The display delivers 535 nits of brightness with the contrast ratio coming in at 3.74:1 based on 10,000 lux.

In addition to slimmer design and lighter weight, the company says its new LCD panel will help develop a phone with “better grip-ability” along with an improved viewing experience, as compared to previous displays.LG Display reveals key to its slimmest panel is Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS), which has been developed and applied to the new panel for the first time ever.

The panel features Dual Flexible Printed circuits – inserted between the panel and touch film. According to LG, this helps reduce the number of lines on the panel by more than 30 percent. LG has applied a 'direct bonding system' to achieve Optical Clear Resin between the panel and touch film for greater brightness.

“Today’s introduction of the world’s slimmest Full HD LCD panel represents an exciting advancement for the high-end smartphone segment, and is possible due to our world-class expertise in IPS and touch technologies. LG Display will continue its commitment to developing products that maximize consumer value as well as opening new doors for the mobile and tablet PC industry,” says Dr. Byeong-Koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display’s IT and Mobile Development Group.

LG Optimus G2 released date in August.

LG has giving us a good news for launching of Optimus G2.
Details about LG's next flagship smartphone, dubbed as the Optimus G2, have once again surfaced on the web. According to new leak images, the smartphone has button-less front and thin bezels. The information is in line with the previous rounds of rumours of on-screen buttons. 


LG has sent out invites to the international media, which hints at the launch of the Optimus G2. The event is scheduled for August 7 and the smartphone is expected to hit store shelves in South Korea around August 20. There is no information on the global or India release date of the smartphone.

Leaks on the Internet suggest that the Optimus G2 will have a 5.2-inch IPD full HD display and will run on Android 4.2.2. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.3GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. LG may consider bumping up the RAM to 3GB. A 2700mAh battery powers the device.

LG has already confirmed it is developing successor to its popular Optimus G smartphone. The Optimus G2 is believed to serve as the basis of the next gen Nexus smartphone – like Optimus G is for the Nexus 4. LG, however, has stated it won't launch the Nexus 5, but reports say the phone is already in the works. 

The LG Optimus G2 is said to come with a 5.2-inch full HD display with 423 ppi density. The recent leaked benchmark results show the phone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset and 2GB of RAM. It is likely to sport 13 MP camera along with Optical Image Stabilization.

The leaked images show the camera module along with a single LED flash and a set of buttons for + and -, which are supposed to be camera-related functions. The keys are placed on the camera-protective slide-down cap. Check out the new leaked images of the Optimus G2 below:

The long awaited sequel to the popular Plants vs. Zombies game is yet to hit app stores across the globe, but we managed to get our hands on a copy of the game early thanks to Australia getting the game weeks before anyone else.


After playing the game for a fair bit, we can tell why it took PopCap Games so long to push out the sequel to Plants vs. Zombies.

For starters, the Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time moves away from Dave’s front lawn and takes you across time and space, quite literally. After an initial training level (which will be incredibly familiar to those who have played the original game), we find ourselves in ancient Egypt, thanks to Dave’s new friend, a talking time machine named Penny. If you thought Crazy Dave made for some giggles, wait till you hear the conversation between him and his time machine!

As far as the gaming experience goes, there’s a lot of familiarity, a lot has remained unchained and much has changed. Of course that sounds absolutely convoluted, but believe it or not, the Plants vs. Zombies 2 feels incredibly fresh, while maintaining all its familiar elements. You’re still required to protect your house (pyramid/ship etc) using plants as your arsenal from Zombies that just want “BRAINZ.” The mechanism remains the same too, with little sun-pellets being your fuel for planting your protectors.


What has changed, however, are the levels and the zombies. As you move across various time periods and locations in Plants vs. Zombies 2, the zombies morph to reflect that reality. For example, you’ll be fighting Mummy Zombies (every child’s dream come true!) when you’re in 4500BC Egypt. There’s also a Pirate themed map and a map designed after the “Wild-West.” There are also a few new kind of zombies that are much harder to kill, AND they take away your coins and sun-pellets, so you might want to watch out for that.


If you thought that Zombies were the only ones getting a serious upgrade, you’d be wrong. PopCap has also improved the arsenal at your disposal in Plants vs. Zombies 2, introducing not just new kind of plants, but also some enhancements. We played enough to unlock a boomerang shooting plant, which can hit three targets at a time in the same row. It’s pretty cool if you’re pushed against the wall as the regular pea shooters can be a little slow. However, if you don’t have the 175 sun-pellets needed to plant a boomerang flinging plant, you can always turn to “plant medicine,” which essentially super-charges your plant into shooting an insane number of projectiles for a limited duration of time. Absolutely GREAT if you’re outnumbered in a Zombie wave.


Overall, Plants vs. Zombies 2 has addressed one big issue we had with the original: monotony. The sequel changes up game modes, locations and type of zombies attacking you at regular intervals and the mix of all these factors makes for an immensely engaging experience. In fact, we’re having a hard time finishing this first look article because we keep going back to the iPad to play another level or two, and before you know it, the afternoon’s a thing of the past.


Plants vs. Zombies 2 is currently only available in Australia and New Zealand counterparts of the Apple App Store as part of a soft launch effort by PopCap. Senior Producer Allen Murray shared with Polygon that the soft launch was an effort to test much of the new technologies the game is built on. Murray said that “If you're connected to the internet, you can save your progress and share accounts across multiple devices — and we need to make sure those systems, along with our ability to stream that content to players, works." There are ways to get the game if you’re in other regions of the world, but we’ll let you figure those means out for yourself. Do watch out for our full length review of the game coming soon.

If you are using the original version of the Facebook Comments box, just add 'migrated=1' to the <fb:comments> tag, and the comments box will automatically switch to the new version. In this case, you should not specify the href parameter, and you must keep the XID parameter the same. Once you migrate, you can access the comments as described above. Note that the moderation tools only work with the newer version of the comments plugin (with href specified instead of migrated=1).
