It’s all about Poonam Pandey’s ‘Nasha’!

When she made tall claims about parading nude to celebrate the Indian cricket team’s World Cup victory in 2011, little did she know that her publicity gimmick would land her a role in a film two years hence! Yes, a film titled ‘Nasha’!!!

While the moral police slammed her for posting outrageous images on twitter, the youth that believed in “freedom of expression” went berserk over her oozing sexuality.

Poonam gleefully accepted all the attention that reached her doorstep with every passing day, and thus arrived India’s first internet sensation.

Her success story from being a wannabe actress to an actress has been quite a sensational one. Though the world is yet to see her acting prowess, she definitely knows how to emote best with her body alone!

In the middle of all the ‘obscene’ acts, Poonam managed to share the stage with Bollywood heavyweight Aamir Khan at an event organized by HR College in Mumbai in November 2011. The lady was invited to judge a personality contest. Yes, you heard it right.

Expressing her excitement on meeting the perfectionist superstar, Poonam had tweeted, “Had a Gr8 time at HR College Mumbai... Judging a event with @aamir_khan & also
saw his boundless love for his son Junaid Amir Khan (sic)”.

Poonam by then had become a popular ‘figure’ and an expert in marketing. Her constant connect with her followers on social media and her relentless effort to retweet complimentary tweets define her love for herself.

With the trailer of her first film that released this on 05 June, one could finally see a visual reference to her raw sex appeal.

Talking about her debut film in an exclusive interview to Zee Media in November last year, Poonam said, “My film is based on addiction, and the name of the film, too, is connected to the same. I’m quite restless about the first look.”

And if you have seen the aforementioned first look of the film, you know exactly what the film entails – Poonam has indeed dared to bare all – ‘Nasha’ is an extension of the saucy persona – remember her generously displayed cleavage on Twitter in the past.

And if you wondered if her popularity diminished with the emergence of the Sherlyn Chopras and the Sunny Leones, here’s what she had said, “I feel all of them are doing their own job, and so am I. The Hindi Film Industry is a huge platform; all get their own chance here. What matters the most is one’s talent. I can’t say that I’m the best, but I will work towards becoming so in my field. My Tweethearts all love me a lot; the love and affection that they have showered on me is overwhelming – that is what matters.”

It would be interesting to see, which direction the girl will move post ‘Nasha’. Or perhaps, who knows, a new genre of cinema might emerge courtesy Poonam. Nonetheless, since 2011, from being nobody to Poonam Pandey, this girl has evolved. Despite finding stiff competition from Sunny Leone and Sherlyn Chopra alike, Poonam hasn’t stopped.

Poonam also dared to question Bipasha Basu, when the latter made a statement tagging men as losers. To which Poonam retorted asking the Bengali beauty, “For an actor who is ‘unsatisfied’ with her career after a decade in Bollywood, clearly, who is the ‘loser’ here? (sic)"

From posting bizarre Holi video and self-praising images to Twitter, Poonam has taken a big leap into the world of celluloid.

Come July and Poonam will be ready to set the silver screen ablaze with ‘Nasha’.

She has claimed that ‘Nasha’ “is a very bold film, and people do love to watch such things”. It will be interesting to see how the film fares at the Box Office and whether Poonam is able to impress audiences.

And whether they are ready to feel the heat this monsoon?

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ review: Action aplenty, but lacks sheen!

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, directed by Sangeeth Sivan and starring the Deol trio –patriarch Dharmendra and sons Sunny and Bobby, hit the silverscreen amidst magnified hype this Friday.

The Deols earlier struck an emotional chord with the audiences worldwide as ‘Apne’ in 2007 and took you through a laugh riot as ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ in 2011.

And as always when the Deol trinity gets together for a movie, you do expect some action. Don’t you?

Dharmendra as Dharam is a con man, who makes a luxurious livelihood along with his younger son Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) in Varanasi, despite having an affluent elder son Paramveer (Sunny Deol) in the UK.

As the film opens, Paramveer’s undying faith in God is introduced to the audiences. He is indeed a one-man army who doesn’t refrain from calling spade a spade. Nonetheless, Paramveer’s father and brother take pleasure in conning people despite being supported by him financially and otherwise.

The two thugs - Dharam and Gajodjar - lay a trap to get hold of a UK-based businessman Sir Yograj Khanna (Annu Kapoor), who travels overseas to seek Yamla Baba’s (Dharmendra) blessings.

And with him comes his pretty daughter Suman (Neha Sharma), a diehard fan of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Dharam wants his son Gajodhar to impress Suman and thus make way to a plush visit to the UK along with Khanna, the multi-millionaire.

As the father-son thug duo land in the UK, they realise that they have indeed asked for trouble, for they weren’t aware that Paramveer works for Khanna.

And with this rendezvous, the film proceeds ahead but with negligible velocity.

Coming to the performances, the Deols are as always far too impressive but what matters more here is that the script proves to be a complete disaster. The Deol magic can do little to lift the fate of the film high, for there is least to talk about.

Neha Sharma and debutant Kristina Akheeva as Reet are a treat to watch. And since it’s a film about the Deols, the two beauties have indeed very little to offer.

Nonetheless, actors Anupam Kher as Joginder Armstrong aka Dude, Johnny Lever and Sucheta Sharma come across in avatars that are mindless to the core.

Addressing his film as ‘over-the-top comedy’, filmmaker Sangeeth Sivan, prior to the release of the film, had said, “If you are a reviewer or a critic who doesn`t like over-the-top films then don’t review it. You will put your sensibilities into it and it is not meant for you.”

Alas! Even mindless comedy should have the potential to tickle one’s funny bone, isn’t it?

Had the director been equipped with a much better script, he could have perhaps treated a nonsensical film with élan. But something somewhere has certainly gone terribly awry.

The songs are good, but could have been a lot better.

‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ has action aplenty but terribly fails to impress. Even Einstein (the orangutan) fails to cast his charm.

The Deols could have certainly come up with a much better one!

To sum it up, the first franchise ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ is a much better watch.

Champions trophy live pakistan vs westindies live score

Pakistan 14/2 (Over 5): West Indian bowlers bowled really well in the first 5 overs to take 2 crucial wickets without too many runs on the board. Fast bowling duo of Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul hit the good length areas continuously and troubled the Pakistani batsmen in the process. Roach sent opener Imran Farhat in the last ball of the very first over for just 2 runs. Roach then trapped Mohammad Hafeez in front of the wickets for just 4 runs in the 5th over. After 5 overs, Pakistan were struggling at 14/2.
Toss: West Indian captain Dwayne Bravo has won the toss and decided to bowl first against Pakistan.

Preview: Former champions West Indies will lock horns with the incredibly unpredictable Pakistan in what promises to be a high-voltage group B Champions Trophy clash at the Oval today.

The Caribbean team, which won the title in 2004 besides finishing runners-up in 1998 and 2006, is high on star power with the intimidating presence of an in-form Chris Gayle being a massive confidence-booster.

Pakistan, on the other hand, is a team full of greenhorns despite being led by the oldest player in the event -- a 39-year-old Misbah-ul-Haq.

A look at the line-ups would make the West Indies slight favourites for the match. Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard and Kemar Roach have the ability to just knock out the opposition attack with their power-hitting.

In fact, the troika of Gayle, Pollard and Samuels displayed good form at the recent IPL and would be looking to carry the confidence into the Champions Trophy even though the format would be different. Skipper and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is another player who can be a match-winner on his day.

Gayle`s aggregate of 695 in Champions Trophy matches is the highest among all batsmen.

On the bowling front, the outfit has quite a few tricksters in the line-up, including the surprise package of pacer Jason Holder.

The youngest in the team is 6`8" tall and could prove to be a decisive factor in the seaming conditions with his medium pace.

Among the slower bowlers, Sunil Narine has been a proven performer and would be expected to work his magic here after a stupendous IPL performance.

The Caribbeans were, however, handed a sound thrashing by the Australians in their most recent ODI assignment at the beginning of the year and it remains to be seen whether they can regroup.

Teams:

West Indies (Playing XI): Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo(c), Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin(w), Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine, Kemar Roach

Pakistan (Playing XI): Imran Farhat, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Misbah-ul-Haq(c), Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal(w), Saeed Ajmal, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan
